Milestone 25th Year Of Unparalleled Career Capped With Epic Performances
Toby Keith - Should've Been A Cowboy [25th Anniversary Edition] Out Today
(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) Closing this month with the 25th anniversary re-release of his debut album, singer, songwriter, and entertainer Toby Keith has primed the pump for an epic December. Today, Friday, November 30, Keith released his cover story for Spotify's Hot Country playlist. The fun continues with a BMI celebration of his career (Dec. 5), a Grand Ole Opry performance (Dec. 7) and with a performance at the Nashville Symphony Ball (Dec. 8), where he will receive the prestigious Harmony Award.
As the featured artist on Spotify's Hot Country playlist, Keith was filmed performing at the iconic Bluebird Café for the platform's cover story segment. In the video, he tells the story of writing the song, how crucial it was to his career and performs it acoustically with longtime collaborator Scotty Emerick.
On Wednesday, December 5, BMI will celebrate the 25th anniversary of "Should've Been A Cowboy" and Keith's self-titled debut album with a gala at their Nashville facility. Two days later, Keith will perform twice as the historic Ryman Auditorium hosts consecutive Grand Ole Opry shows. And the Nashville Symphony will honor Keith with its Harmony Award the following night, December 8. In addition to being recognized for his career contributions to music, Keith will perform with the symphony at the event.
The busy month follows the release of Toby Keith - Should've Been A Cowboy [25th Anniversary Edition], also out today, which celebrates the debut album of arguably the most successful self-directed artist of his era - songwriter, vocalist, musician, producer, entertainer. The originally self-titled collection spawned four hit singles including his No. 1 debut "Should've Been A Cowboy." As solo writer on the song, Keith began a career that would eventually see him standing shoulder-to-shoulder as a writer/artist with the likes of Dolly Parton, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Van Morrison and Gordon Lightfoot as a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
