  • Biography

Snoop Dogg (born Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr.) is a Long Beach, California rapper and actor who pioneered West Coast gangsta rap during the ’90s. After being discovered by Dr. Dre in 1992, Snoop was featured on Dre’s solo debut single “Deep Cover” and debut studio album The Chronic. The following year, Snoop dropped his debut album, Doggystyle, on Death Row Records, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. After releasing one more record on Death Row, Snoop moved on to No Limit Records to release a slew of late ’90s projects including 2000’s Tha Last Meal. He later bounced around a few other labels, releasing a whopping 15 solo albums in his career, selling over 23.5 million in the U.S. alone and over 35 million worldwide. With classic anthems like “Gin and Juice,” “Drop It Like Its Hot,” “Beautiful,” and countless others under his belt, Snoop’s lasting legacy—and inimitable work ethic—is a blueprint for any aspiring artist.
